Selling runs in the family.

I am Mohammed K. Yusuf. Most people call me Mo.

My mother owned several pharmacies when she was young. My grandmother sold gold her entire life. Selling and building businesses is what my family has always done.

So when I look at a sales team, I do what I was raised to do. I look at how it works, analyze it, and build it better.

For twenty years, companies have brought me in for one of two reasons. Either they need a sales team that does not exist yet, or they have one that is not working. I have done both, in startups, in small and mid-sized businesses, and in Fortune 500 companies.

The path

I started at Vicom in 2008 as a sales consultant and became its top sales performer. I went on to run its sales team as Director of Sales, then started and ran a managed services business, ProServ, as its General Manager and COO.

In 2020 I joined Oracle, where I now lead a team of 10 in cloud sales as Vice President, Cloud and Infrastructure, for North America Retail and Hospitality. In fiscal 2021 I was named Regional Manager of the Year and Regional Manager of the Quarter, at 119% attainment for the year, and I was selected for Oracle's first Top Talent Advanced Leadership Program.

Over the years I have run sales teams, a marketing function, a partner channel and a 25-person company.

I have an MBA from Nyack College, where I finished as class salutatorian, and a B.S. in Management Information Systems from Central Connecticut State University, summa cum laude. I hold Six Sigma and ITIL certifications.

How I lead

The biggest influence on how I manage is Sir Alex Ferguson, the former Manchester United manager. From him I learned people management: know the name of every member of your team, what motivates each person, and who their family is.

Two books shaped how I lead: Leading by Sir Alex Ferguson, and Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss.

Hope is not a strategy.Conflict brings out truth, creativity and resolution.

What I do on the side

I teach. Imoye Academy is my passion project and my way of giving back to the continent that helped make me. I founded it, a team runs it day to day, and I guest lecture to kick off new cohorts, training African professionals to sell. In May 2025 I gave the commencement address at Central Connecticut State, where I graduated in 2003. You can watch it here.

I was also featured in the premiere edition of Global Entrepreneurs Review: read the feature.

What clients said

“Mohammed is quite simply the best at what he does. … hard-working, results-oriented, honest. It's that last one, honesty, that to me, is by far the most important trait he possesses. He is a man of his word and his word is his bond.”
Eric Wells, IT Solutions Architect and Platform Manager, 2013
